During the diet with hcg detox drops we would consume at least 2 liters of water every day. In fact, even after a course of treatment with hcg drops for weight loss, we need to drink the same amount of water. This is a requirement of our body and not from our physician.
But what type of water should we drink? Bottled water, tap water or mineral water? Sparkling water or still water?
Safe drinking-water, as defined by the “Guidelines for drinking-water quality” issued by the World Health Organization, does not represent any significant risk to health over a lifetime of consumption, including different sensitivities that may occur between life stages. Safe drinking-water is suitable for all usual domestic purposes, including personal hygiene. The Guidelines are also applicable to packaged water and ice intended for human consumption. They provide a scientific point of departure for national authorities to develop drinking water regulations and standards appropriate for their national situation.
The tap water is known for its possible risks – infectious (viral, bacterial or parasitic) or non-infectious (e.g. Nitrate toxicity), but it also benefits through public health measures (e.g. Water fluoridation). With all the recommendations, in many countries tap water consumption is declining in favor of bottled water.
Mineral water is not a great idea during the hcg detox drops diet. Acidification of water (carbonation, adding of carbon dioxide) has really much smaller effect than it is thought. Scientific studies have failed to show a clear negative effect of acidification, but instead they just opened the discussion about the possible beneficial effects attributed to the presence of acid (e.g. Antibacterial effect).
On the other hand, there is an irritant effect of “bubbles” that makes carbonated mineral water (sparkling water) to have a disadvantage in the competition with still mineral water. The best known impact of sparkling water consumption is, perhaps, the acid reflux, impact felt by people who develop heartburn that goes in the upper digestive tract, within or outside the gastro-esophageal reflux disease. Heartburn and bloating (distention) are the classic cases in which acidified water consumption is improper.
Certain drug treatments require the use of still non-mineral water for reasons of chemical interactions. The hCG detox drops do not chemically interact with the sparkling mineral water; their content is simply dissolved in. So, either type of water you chose to drink, the efficiency of hCG drops for weight loss remains unspoiled.
